The Power of Prayer

Has killed more children than antibiotics

Here is a fine example of the power of praying to the Great Sky Fairy.

According to an article from the Associated Press Herbert and Catherine Schaible, good Christian folks from Pennsylvania, USA have now killed two of their children by praying for them instead of relying on medicine.

How could this happen when it clear says in John 14:13-14; Matthew 18:19; Mark 11:24; James 5:14-15; and Luke 11:9-10 that if you pray for something you will get it?  James specifically says that you can cure the sick through prayer.

Well there are a couple of possible answers:
  • The Bible also says that prayer doesn't always work--this would be in contradiction to the places where it says that it will work.  If the Bible is the inspired word of God, then God has a tendency toward lying, and tricking his subjects, or he thinks its funny that children die when their parents look for his help when they should know it's not coming.
  • The Bible and everything in it are stories created by ignorant men to explain things they don't understand--i.e. fairy tales and myth.
I feel bad for the victims of this stupidity--the two little boys who died a long agonizing death because their ignorant parents trusted a bunch of ancient fairy tales.  The preachers, and other members of their little cult should also be brought to justice for propagating such stupidity.  The sooner ignorant mythological belief systems like this are eradicated the better off all our children will be.

Disagree? Why? Prove it?
